California Gov. Gavin Newsom has declared a state of emergency in Santa Barbara and Montreal.
The ordinances allow the California Department of Transportation to request immediate federal assistance for the need for highway repairs or reconstruction after the Alison fire in Santa Barbara County and Colorado Fire in Monterrey County.
Alison’s fire broke out on October 11, 2021 in the Santa Inies Mountains and shut down US 101 for several days. Colorado fire erupts on January 21 at Palo Colorado Canyon on the shores of Great Sur, closing Highway 1.
The Santa Barbara County Proclamation directs the State Emergency Services Bureau to assist with rehabilitation work there, and includes arrangements for easy access to unemployment benefits due to Alisal fire.
For other wildfires, Newsom has signed an executive order extending restrictions on prices in Bute, El Dorado and Plumas provinces until September 30.
Callo Fire said the largest wildfires in the state of Nevada County have stopped growing and now 22 percent have been contained. Calo Fire said low temperatures and high humidity would help prevent fires, but the agency warned that wind was expected.
