Yosemite National Park, California –
California firefighters found land on Monday in a fierce battle with giant Sequoia Grove and a small community in Yosemite National Park.
The Washington fire on the west coast of Sierra Nevada burned about 4.2 square miles (10.9 square miles) but was still 22 percent contained Monday night, according to an incident update.
The fire was a threat to more than 500 mature squirrels in the park’s Mariposa Grove and the nearby Wauna community, which displaced.
The area south of Yosemite is closed to visitors, but the rest of the national park remains open.
President Abraham Lincoln After signing the law in 1864, Mariposa Grove and Yosemit Valley were protected.
Moisture control systems have been set up in the damp shrubs, and no serious damage has been reported to any of the designated trees, including 3,000-year-old Griezli Giant.
“Fortunately, Mariposa Grove has a long-established burning history and studies show that these efforts reduce the impact of high-intensity unwanted fires,” the National Park Service said in a statement.
Warning issued in Central Valley Friday.
“Fortunately, there are no faulty winds that affect the behavior of the fire,” said Fire Information Officer Mark Pibles earlier in the day. “We have high pressure above the top of the fire, which causes the temperature to rise. However, we get a good amount of moisture at night, which improves the behavior of the fire, which allows our firefighters to do a good night shift.
Located in about 70 bushes spread over the western slope of Sierra Nevada, Sequoia was once considered fire-resistant but is becoming more and more vulnerable to wildfires, becoming more severe and devastating over a century of firefighting and climate change .
Lightning strikes over the past two years have killed up to a fifth of the estimated 75,000 people.
There was no clear flash of lightning for Thursday’s fire near the park’s Washington Road. He reported that there was smoke in the woods from visitors.
A year ago, a hurricane tore through the bush, knocking down 15 giant sequoia and countless other trees.
The fallen trees provided enough fuel for the fire, along with many pine trees killed by beetle bark.
Smoke and ash exploded in Salt Lake City on Saturday as a result of a wildfire in Utah, rural Tuele County. On Monday night, the fire in Jacob’s town increased to 6.4 square miles (16.6 square kilometers), with 19 percent of the fire extinguished, officials said.
Elsewhere in Utah, firefighters battled a 15.9-square-mile (41-square-kilometer) Halfway Hill fire at Filmore. Court of law encountered the four men of the investors described the firefire that made the fire.
So far, by 2022, more than 35,000 wildfires in the United States have burned nearly 4.7 million acres (1.9 million hectares), according to the National Agency for Fire, more than average for both wildfires and acres.
