A fire broke out at Access Park shopping centre in Kenilworth last night, Wednesday, 26 October, destroying a number of stores. The Fire and Rescue Services were alerted to smoke coming from the vicinity of the shopping complex around 11.30 pm.

The Wynberg fire station’s crew were on the scene and confirmed that a building was on fire and more resources were called to help bring the blaze under control.
A team of firefighters from various fire stations attended the scene. The affected buildings housed the HDC Home Department Store, CAB Foods and AMG dealership and workshop.
Firefighters worked through the night and early hours of this morning battling the blaze which was finally extinguished just before 5 am, Thursday 26 October. Firefighters will remain at the scene to attend to any flare-ups.
A structural engineer and a Fire Safety inspector have been called to the scene to try to ascertain the cause of the fire.
