Colorado wildfire: Bodycam video captures tense evacuations of residents, animals by deputies

Body camera video released by the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday captured tense moments deputies experienced on Dec. 30, 2021 when the Marshall Fire broke out in the region, forcing law enforcement to take action to evacuate residents.

The video captured officers helping load dogs and cats belonging to residents into their own vehicles, evacuating horses from a stable, knocking on doors telling homeowners to leave, and giving a Costco shopper who did not have a vehicle a lift.

The rare, winter wildfire ravaged two Denver-area towns and displaced thousands of residents. The evacuation was deemed by many officials as successful, despite the death of at least one person. One person also remains missing.
