chalk mountain fire
The Chalk Mountain Fire, 48 miles southwest of Fort Worth, Texas, has burned more than 6,339 acres north of the US near Interstate 76 since it began Monday between Dinosaur Valley State Park and the Chalk Mountain community.
It was first reported north of US 67, east of FM51, then spread north and northeast, bypassing CR-205. Wednesday morning it was approaching CR-1008. Combination of tree burns and crown fires were observed with the fire detected up to 200 yards from woody areas to grass fuels. On the west side, crews are working to keep fire east of FM51. Firefighters will continue to set up fire containment lines and provide structural protection for homes Wednesday.
On July 19, a Hood County judge issued a mandatory eviction for the Hutchinson, Coleman Ranch Road, Rock Church Highway, and Nocal in Tullar areas, but that eviction order has since been rescinded.
A post-fire assessment team arrived Tuesday and is assessing the impacts on the structures. 12 people were confirmed destroyed as of Wednesday morning, but that number is expected to rise.
No serious injuries were reported.

1148 Fire, Palo Bento Province
Another fire that started on Monday was the 1148 fire on the north side of Lake Possum, four miles west of Pickwick. Wednesday morning 454 acres were burned north of FM1148.
The hand crew and bulldozers Tuesday night completed a fire line along the north side, connecting both the west and east sides to FM1148.
The Star Telegram newspaper reported that at least two houses were engulfed in flames, which were seen from the lake. Authorities report that at least eight homes are believed to have been destroyed, although damage assessments are continuing as the fire is still burning on Wednesday. The damaged homes are located in an area called Lake Shore Cove.”
Initially, 50 homes were evacuated. As of Wednesday that has been reduced to a voluntary eviction.
