Wildfire Still Raging in Ilia

PIRGOS – Two firefighting planes and helicopters went into the sky early Monday morning to fight wildfires in Ilias. A strong 195 fire brigade, consisting of seven ground teams and 48 vehicles, was battling the blaze with the help of volunteers, local authorities, land trucks and water tankers. The Mobile Operations Center “Olympus” is also located in the area.

On Sunday afternoon, the fire broke out in the forest near Achaia and spread to the neighboring region of Elijah.

Lt. Gen. Alexis Rapanos, commander of the fire brigade, ordered the Arson Crimes Directorate to investigate the cause of the fire.
