Greek firefighters battled a massive forest fire that forced them to evacuate a small village west of Athens.
In the evening, the fire department appeared to be spreading slowly, raising hopes that it would soon be contained.
More than 130 firefighters and volunteers, with the help of 10 helicopters, were battling the blaze at noon near the town of Porto Germeno, 70 kilometers west of Athens.
As a precaution, they were ordered to leave the village of Mitikas, but no casualties were reported. Greek news reports say a homeless man has been injured.
Today # Fire By Porto Germeno. Video from Aleppo, 13.23. Yesterday I was filming the burning of Shinos and I was looking at the mountain behind Pisata and I hoped it would stay. It is on fire now.# Fire # Porto_Germeno
