Hyde County, WITN – Fireb Road fires in Hyde County have increased from 615 acres to 1,080 acres, pushing past storage lanes.
A combination of heat, drought, and wind pushed the fire beyond the control lines around 1 p.m.

They say relief from the afternoon rain has helped cool the fire, but it is expected to be temporary.
Workers continue to strengthen fire lines and divert water to the area.
Authorities did not immediately know the cause of the blaze, which was believed to have been caused by lightning.
