Athens Court of Appeals The court on Wednesday ruled that 21 of the 24 defendants in the deadly fire in Matti, East Attica, which killed 103 people in July 2018, should be tried.
Following the appeals of the quorum, the judges sent former Attica governor Rena Dourow to court on criminal charges. The verdict seeks to upgrade the case against five former fire service officers to a more serious case – the risk of death.
Accordingly, according to the decision of the Court of Appeal, 21 defendants will be brought to justice for negligence and negligence.
These include the man who started the fire, state mayors and officials, as well as civil defense, firefighters and police officers.
