WASHINGTON TWP., N.J. – A wildfire that broke out at Wharton State Forest on Tuesday has been contained.
Crews battled the blaze, which spread across 98 acres, near Tylertown.
On Wednesday, the New Jersey Forest Fire Service announced that the agency “achieved 100 percent containment” of the fire.
Basto Village has since reopened, but the Buttonwood Campground remains closed.
This comes after an illegal campfire sparked a massive 13,000-acre wildfire in the same New Jersey state forest three weeks ago.
