The Steiman Flats wildfire burning in Chelan is now 800 acres, but crews made good progress overnight, according to the Washington Department of Natural Resources.

The Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR) announced that the fast-moving wildfire at Stayman Flats, about five miles southwest of Chelan, has grown to 750 acres and is zero percent contained.
Chelan County Emergency Management (CCEM) announced a Level 3 evacuation warning for Danny Canyon and Hawks Ridge Road at 10 a.m. and a Level 1 evacuation warning for nearby areas overnight.
An address on Stayman Flats Road will be downgraded from level 3 to level 1.
An emergency ‘standby’ shelter has been set up for families affected by Chelan High School. If overnight emergency shelter is needed, CCEM urges residents to call the Red Cross at 1-800-733-2767. It is not a drop-in shelter and is open to callers on an as-needed basis.

The fire required a Level 3 evacuation order for Downey Canyon and Hawks Ridge Road, meaning anyone at 261 Stayman Flats Road should evacuate immediately. Chelan County Emergency Management says emergency shelters are being prepared for people in need.
The surrounding area is under a Level 1 evacuation warning, which means residents should prepare to evacuate and follow the instructions of local authorities. That area includes:
Stayman Flats Road, from Mile Post 2 to the end of the road. This works on the north side of the road in this area. Hwy 97A, from Knapps Cave to Downey Canyon Road. This applies to the east side of the highway. Little Butte Ranch Road, Chucker Hill Road and all roads except Hawks Meadows Road, Chucker Run, Eagle Crest Road and Dove Hollow Road.

According to Wildcade, the fire started around 2:30 pm and by 7:20 pm it covered 500 hectares, a rapid increase from the 150 acres recorded 5 days ago.

The Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR) reports a wildfire known as the Steyman Flats Fire about 5 miles SW of Chelan.
The fire is currently estimated at 150 acres and is burning near Stayman Flats Road and US-97A Knapps Tunnel.
