Severe wildfire rages in US state of Utah

Local television station KUTV reports that heavy forest fires have occurred in Utah.

The fire spread to about 3,000 acres[3,000 ha].

The first flame centers were discovered early July 8. By this time, West Utah was in danger because of strong winds and unusual temperatures.

Firefighters were interrupted by wind and dry conditions.

A spokesman for the state fire department said efforts are currently focused on protecting nearby residential areas.
