The Forest Service needs help identifying the thieves who stole the Osbourne Fire Finder – Wildfire Today

Mark Twain National Forest needs your help in identifying people seen in photos and videos being stolen from the Marcotte Lookout Tower near Bunker, Missouri in 2021. They are suspected of removing the Osborne Fire Finder, an essential device that helps monitors locate the exact location of smoke Indicated with a map. They are historical elements and difficult to replace.

Several videos of the thieves were posted on Forest’s Facebook page in the comments section of the post about this incident.

After photos of a watchtower burglary in Oregon were published in August, a suspect was arrested and later indicted by a grand jury. In this case, the thieves stole the batteries, electronic equipment and solar panels used to power the tower’s fire detection camera.
