Washington DC And Ottawa On – The Sustainable Forest Initiative (SFI) announced today 2022 Protection Chain Level The PEFC Certification Program meets strict third-party reviews. PEFC is an international organization that supports national forest certification systems developed in collaboration with various stakeholders and adapts to local priorities and circumstances. Companies certified by the SFI 2022 Chain Retention Level can now apply for PEFC claims by applying the PEFC on-product label, which provides additional options to meet the needs of customers around the world.
“SFI plays an important role in meeting the needs of North American forests and communities and is a key member of the PEFC to enhance its role in sustainable forest development,” said Dr. Michael Berger, acting secretary general of PEFC. “Only PEFC certifies the chain of certification standards that meet our strict requirements and are open and transparent through a multi-stakeholder process.”
The SFI 2022 protection chain standard was approved by the PEFC after a 60-day international public consultation period and a detailed test involving an independent third-party evaluator.
“We are very proud of PEFC International’s adoption of the 2022 Safety Standards,” said SFI President and CEO Kati Abuso. “Thanks to this support, customers in North America and around the world will be more confident that products with SFI chain will come from well-managed and sustainable forests.”
There are more than 600 certified SFI chains, and SFI certified products are sold in more than 120 countries around the world.
SFI will hold an information session on PEFC support benefits on June 15 2022 SFI Annual Conference In Madison, WI, interested organizations are encouraged to participate.
