Washington, DC and Ottawa, ON– The Sustainable Forestry Initiative,® (SFI) today announced five new SFI Community Grants to support projects that create meaningful impact in communities across the US and Canada and support SFI’s mission to expand forest-focused collaboration.
“SFI is committed to providing better choices for people and the planet, and that means supporting communities,” said Kathy Abuso, SFI President and CEO. “This year’s community grant recipients are working to develop forestry knowledge, strengthen urban forest management, support green development pathways, and build a diverse and strong workforce, all while strengthening the relationships and expertise of our SFI Implementation Committee and SFI-certified organizations.”
The new grants will create an experience that invites community members across the United States and Canada to explore and connect with forests through interactive outdoor exhibits and in-person experiences. Many of these supports offer online tools such as apps and websites to provide a variety of new community interactions.
