Athens – Greece on Friday sent two Canadian fighter jets to France in response to a request from French civil defense mechanics and rescEU to fight a devastating wildfire. The wildfires are mostly concentrated in northwestern France, and as a precautionary measure, 6,000 people have been displaced.
The two Canadians went to France on the orders of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Minister Christos Stilianides.
“France is the first country to mobilize aid and call for help in dealing with wildfires, and it is still the only country that has responded to this request, actively supporting the European Union with all powers. In a statement issued on Friday, the ministry thanked French officials for their support.
