Aerial footage has been released of the devastation caused by a grass fire in Wennington, Essex yesterday.
Around 20 homes in the village have been partially or completely destroyed as extremely hot weather has fueled a number of fires across the UK.
About 100 firefighters battled the rapidly spreading blaze, forcing hundreds of people to evacuate.
London Fire Brigade were first called at 1.06am and brought the blaze under control by 9.37am.
Crews from Dagenham, Deptford, Bethnal Green, Woodford, Lee Green, Forest Hill and local fire stations were at the scene on Tuesday.
About 90 properties including farm buildings, houses and garages were evacuated as the fire spread across 40 hectares of land.
No one was injured and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
Other areas in London, Kent, Cornwall and Pembrokeshire were also hit by fires on Britain’s hottest day on record.
