The blaze closed B9008 Tomintoul Road in the presence of eight firefighters, including Granta’s team.

Traffic between the Bridge of Avenue and Glenleyvt was halted for several hours this afternoon, and police urged residents to stay away until it became clear.

The SFS call was received at 3 p.m., and a helicopter was spotted unloading water in the area.

Firefighters from Granton, Aberlor, Invernius, Elgin, Huntley, Balater and Rotes attacked the fire.

The road was reopened this evening.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service is urging residents this week to be vigilant in rural areas, as the risk of wildfires in eastern Scotland is ‘extremely high’.

Although Scotland appears to be on the verge of reversing high temperatures in other parts of the UK, some parts of the East and North East are still expected to reach 24 degrees Fahrenheit[24 ° C]especially for people living, working or visiting rural areas. Take great care to prevent fire hazards.
